hi where heading up
to cairns then coming back down the coast
to melbourne next year and wanting
to know the
best time to travel?

We lobbed in
Cairns /
Cooktown around mid May this year (out of
Adelaide) - very warm up there then - even warmer over in the
Normanton area (35C a lot of the
time - unseasonally high said the locals). Might pay
to time it for June/July up at the top of your run.... research on the Bureau of Met sites can give you a picture of weather averages for any region. It was wet most days from Mackay up
to Cooktown in May too - dryer later on. Out of
Melbourne, you will probably be hit like us with the very warm and sticky tropical wetlands - great
to experience, but the insects need
to be dealt with in an organised manner. Have a good un.

Christmas
to easter is the wet and the wet means humidity. The roads are not flood free either.
Time your run till after
easter and you will have better luck at fine weather and less humidity.
Trust you can choose your timing!!!!

Go any
time you feel like it, I have travelled the Bruce for years and very rare
to get held up, I love the wet season , beautiful warm rain, Spectacular lightning shows, everything is green , just don't go swimming in the sea.....STINGERS
